Marlin Trevor (M.T.) Evans, 91, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2016 at his home west of Heyburn.  He was born on February 18, 1925 in Eckert, Texas to Louis and Mary Moehle Evans, the sixth of eight children.  M.T. served in the Navy during World War II.  He was deployed to the New Hebrides in the South Pacific on the ship USS Mt. Vernon.  After the Navy, he moved to Hazelton, Idaho where he met his future wife, Barbara Makinson.  They were married on October 15, 1950 in Twin Falls, Idaho.  The honeymoon trip consisted of a drive back to Hazelton to finish picking spuds for the day.  They drew a farm in the Kasota area in 1956 and spent the next 60 years on the family homestead.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and inventor- in his experience, there was nothing that could not be invented or fixed with copper wire and a pair of pliers.  He was also a world class story teller-some of which were mostly true.  One of his favorite people to swap stories with was long-time neighbor and friend, Jerry Arthur.   Marlin is survived by his wife, Barbara, children Arb Evans (Diane Griswold), Gwen Montgomery (George), Sarah Jane Graham (Roger), Pauline Evans, Marlene Cahoon (Arley), and special family member, Marcos. Also surviving are his youngest brother, Lester Evans (Frances) of San Antonio, Texas and many nieces and nephews in Texas who held a special place in his heart.  He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.  Grandpa Marlin dearly loved and cherished each and every one of his grandkids; their visits were the highlight of his day as he grew older.  He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters, and one grandson, Calvin Fisher.  The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided by his home health and hospice nursing team members, Rosa, Kathy and Diane.   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.  Burial will follow in the Hazelton Cemetery in Hazelton with Military Rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans.  Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Morrison Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday prior to the funeral.
