On May 11, 2016, Louise Carolyn Long Lynes left this world to make a long-awaited reunion with her sweetheart, Kenny, and her daughter, Carol. She was born in Curlew, Nebraska on June 21, 1926 to Ellis and Helen Long. She was the fourth child of five and she grew up during the lean days of the depression era. In 1946 she married Kenneth Glen Lynes and together they built a life starting in Cozad, Nebraska, then to Redwood City, California, Salt Lake City, Utah, and finally settling in Burley, Idaho. There they raised three children: Roger, Carol, and Robert.

Louise was actively engaged in the raising of her family. She worked various professions including teaching school, bookkeeping, and retail. Her passion was making and selling crafts for which she became known throughout the region. She and Kenny were inseparable and together they were involved in all of the academic, social, and sporting events of their children. They coached, kept stats, sold concessions, and led the cheering sections. Their hobbies, vacations, and interests centered around their family and they made an annual vacation to the Midwest to renew and reinforce those connections. The family ties were not merely limited to those here on earth as Louise was an avid genealogist who spent years researching and organizing volumes of family history. She had traced her lineage back as far as 17 generations on some lines.

Louise’s world changed with the diagnoses and eventual deaths of first, Kenny in 1996, and then Carol in 2003. She was a faithful, tireless caregiver to both of them through these difficult days. She left her home to stay full-time for the final year of Carol’s life in Washington, DC. This, in and of itself required a huge sacrifice as Louise did not like to fly, or live in a big city. She learned to drive in the traffic, navigate the metro system, and became very good at getting Carol to and from appointments, as well as taking care of her every need. She continued her compassionate care for others with those who were still living as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend, and neighbor.  She will be greatly missed.

In addition to Kenny and Carol, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Neale and Ray, sister Olive, a daughter-in-law, Vickie, and a grandson, Stephen. She is survived by a sister Betty (Aaron) Crosman, sons Roger and Robert (Karly) Lynes, 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. The family wishes to sincerely thank Aspen Home Health and Hospice, Sage Grove Assisted Living, Dr. W. David Adams, and Dr. Fahim Rahim for their excellent and compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Morrison-Payne Mortuary, 321 East Main Street, Burley, Idaho at 12 noon. Friends are invited to call beginning at 11:00 am preceding the services.  Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.  Arrangements are under the care of Morrison Payne Funeral Home in Burley.  Condolences may be shared at morrisonpayne.com.
