Raymond Miller, age 70, passed away July 16, 2016. Ray was born March 30, 1946 to Frank J. and Mardell E. Miller and raised in San Mateo, California. He graduated from Napa High School in 1964. After graduation, he worked in construction then entered the Army in 1966. Ray served a tour in Vietnam as an SP4 where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and a Purple Heart before being honorably discharged in 1972 with a combat-related eye injury. On August 29, 1969, Ray married Linda Perryhouse of Napa, California; they had three daughters.

In 1978, Ray moved his family to Declo, Idaho. There they managed a small farm, milking a cow and raising chicken, pork, and beef. Thirty-two of his working years were spent with TCI Cable of Burley (now Cable One of Twin Falls) where he retired in December 2012. Through the years he attended various veterans groups in the Mini-Cassia area including the DAV and VFW.

Ray was active at Rupert First Christian Church (now First Christian Praise Chapel) for 36 years where he served as a deacon and elder. His heart was for the youth to grow to know Christ as their Savior and he gave of himself financially, emotionally, and physically by attending the annual high school church camp for over 20 years. He was serving in this capacity at the time of his death.

Ray is survived by three brothers, Robert, Frank, and Mike; three sisters, Elaine, June, and Deanna; his wife, Linda, of 47 years; his three daughters, Jessica Davis (David), Rena Kornstad (Reid), and Gina Miller (Jacky); and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Don Miller and Jim Miller.

Cremation services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, Rupert.

A memorial service will be held at First Christian Praise Chapel, 1110 8th Street, Rupert, on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM. His remains will be laid to rest with military funeral honors at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
