William "Bill" Ray Davidson, 75, of Heyburn, Idaho passed away at home Sunday, October 9th, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. During this time, Diane Robinson, the love of his life for more than 30 years and his daughter, Julie Blincoe, were both by his side providing care and comfort. Bill was the proprietor and creative talent of Davidson’s Upholstery. He was known throughout the area for his skill and artistic ability. Whether tractor seats or family heirlooms, he made the worn new again. Born in Pocatello, Idaho June 18, 1941, the second of three children born to Virginia Lee Davidson and William Raymond Davidson his favorite childhood days were spent fishing near the family cabin in the Salmon-Challis Forest. His love of the area never faded and, whenever time allowed, he and Diane headed to the Sawtooth Mountains. Bill graduated from Pocatello high school in 1960 and was inducted into the US Army, November 13, 1963. He was stationed at Fort Lawton Washington Sixth US Army with the 4th MS1 BN (NH) 4th Artillery (Nike Missile Base). His military service helped secure a job at Smith Oil Company in Rupert. There he met the owner’s teenaged son and lifelong friend, Glenn Smith, and his first wife, Bette and her daughter, Yvonne. On March 29th, 1969 he celebrated the arrival of his daughter, Julie Ann Davidson. In 1970 he opened Davidson's Upholstery. When he was not working at his upholstery shop (and often when he was) you would find him with Diane. Together you may see them with friends at the Elks Club, camping in the Sawtooths, or celebrating a holiday with family. A unique individual, generous to a fault, with an artist’s talent and an open heart that made room for children, adopted children, step-children, foster children, adults, lost souls, stray dogs, wayward pets and even their owners. He was loved. He will be missed. He is preceded in death by: father William Ray Davidson; mother Virginia Lee Thompson, step father Chet Thompson, Brother Tom Davidson. He is survived by Diane Robinson and her children Tim Robinson, Julie Frayer and 6 grandchildren (Heyburn); his sister Robin (Dale) Jensen (Pocatello) and 3 children; his first wife, Bette, daughter Yvonne, 3 grandchildren,1 great grandchild, and their daughter Julie Blincoe (Hailey) and grandson Trevor Davidson (Boise). An informal gathering for friends and family will be held on Friday evening, October 14, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert. Cremation Services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
