Barbara Gay Archer was born August 8, 1933 to Basil Owen and Regina Irene Carson of Oakley, Idaho.  She moved with her family to Burley, when she was approximately one year old and attended Burley schools. Barbara married Fred William Archer in Buhl, July 02, 1950.  Barbara and Fred moved to Minidoka where they were both active in Fred's farming passion and shared many happy times working the soil with friends and family.  In the summer of 1969, Barbara and Fred moved to Burley and Barbara explored her talents as a retail salesperson in a local downtown boutique.  She enjoyed interacting with her customers, making festive balloon bouquets and assisting couples to be married with bridal registries.  Barbara was active in the Lutheran Church and was strong in her faith in Christ as her Savior.  After Fred went to be with the Lord in 1997, Barbara struck up a relationship with a longtime acquaintance, Curtis Howard.  Barbara and Curtis shared many happy moments together that could have easily been very lonely moments, traveling to places that they both have always wanted to see and explore.  This past year, Barbara began to feel the long term effects of an otherwise manageable disease.  She passed peacefully to be with the Lord on July 31, 2017.  She is survived by her two daughters; Gayla Reeder (David Reeder, husband) and Darla Shaver (Mark Shaver, husband), three grandchildren (Jim Brekke, Kimberly Roth and Lyndsey Cunningham) and four great-grandchildren (Addison & Ryan Brekke and Brynnleigh & Carson Roth) and her beloved companion Curtis Howard.

There will be a grave side service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday August, 4th for the immediate family members and a social gathering afterward, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., for extended family and friends at Zion Lutheran Church with light refreshments.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or St. Luke's Intensive Care Unit.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Leukemia Foundation or St. Luke's Intensive Care Unit.

Very sorry for your loss Gayla , Darla, and Curtis. All of you have been very close and
loving with her in her final days.  She knew she was loved by all of you.  She will be missed, but knowing she is free of pain and suffering is a blessing in itself.
Love to you all!

We loved Barbara! She was such a sweet and caring lady and we will miss our waves to her as she drove by our house. She worked for us at Farmer's Corner for a short time after Fred passed away and she knew so many of our customers and had fun visiting with them. She was such a good friend and neighbor to my mom, Loleta, as well.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sending my thoughts and condolences to my 2nd cousins Gayla and Darla. Your mother Barbara was such a sweet lady. I haven't seen her for decades, but I remember her kindness as a child. I also remember her as a very kind, caring aunt to my mother Marcia Carson Foust. I am reflecting on the thought that Barbara is now in heaven, seeing and joyfully visiting with my mother Marcia, her siblings June, (Ivan) Bus, and Earl, her parents Basil and Regina, Fred, and other loved ones.
Gayla and Darla, Love and Blessings to you both.
