Larry "Scott" Erwin passed away and returned to his eternal family on August 30, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Scott was born November 21, 1950 in Burley, Idaho to Richard Erwin and Ramona Romig Erwin.  He graduated from Minico High School in 1969 and furthered his education by attending the College of Southern Idaho and Boise State University where he majored in history.

While working in Twin Falls, Idaho, he met and married his sweetheart, Deborah Lee Bingham on November 10, 1973.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden, Utah temple.  Debbie and Scott moved to Rupert, Idaho where Scott was elected as the County Assessor.  After fulfilling this obligation, he worked for the Idaho State Tax Commission for 30 years.  After retiring, he managed his own independent appraisal business until his passing.

Scott loved snow skiing and served on the National Ski Patrol at Pomerelle Ski Resort for 25 years.  He also loved golfing, fishing, and camping at Redfish Lake with his family.  His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, three children, and eleven grandchildren.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.  His most fulfilling was his brief service in the Twin Falls LDS temple.

Scott loved serving and entertaining others with his great sense of humor even until the very end.  He was a loving and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Earnest Erwin.

He is survived by his wife Debbie of Rupert, Idaho; his three children, Cameron (Tera) Erwin of Alpine, Utah; Courtney (Mike) Hagberg of Layton, Utah; Callie (Brody) Hodges of Redmond, Oregon; his mother, Ramona Erwin of Paul, Idaho; his brother, Jeff (Sue) Erwin of Seattle, Washington; his lifelong best friend, Jerry (Nancy) Grace of Rupert, Idaho; and his eleven grandchildren, Carson, Jaylee, Kambrie, McKinley, Hadley, Elisa, Beckham, Kennedy, Rylee, Jaxton, and Harper.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Morrison Funeral Home from 6-8 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 26 South 100 West in Rupert, Idaho.

To the family of Scott Erwin – I was extremely saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend Scott. I have worked with Scott for the past fifteen years on appraisal assignments in the Rupert area. He has become a very close friend. Scott brought light into the lives of those he came in contact with. I know you are all sorrowful that he is no longer with you. I know you will be comforted by the many memories of when he brought light into your lives. May you all find peace in those memories.
