Lawrence Ariel Hinds passed from this life, April 16th 2018, at his home in Oakley, surrounded by family.  He gallantly fought a two year battle with cancer before being called back home.  He was the eldest child of Ariel Platt Hinds and Gladys LaVaune Hinds, born April 4th 1937 in Berkeley, California.

He married his only love, Lois Elaine Poulton of Oakley, Idaho in March, 1964.  He raised his family in Sacramento, California.  He is remembered by his wife and children, Russell, Gina (Goss), Wendy (Pope), Roger and Barbara (Johnson), his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and his siblings, Elaine (Fales), Steven, Kati (Treichler) and Kimball.  All of whom he loved deeply.

He grew up in Berkeley and Carmichael California.  Everyone knew him as Larry.  He made friends everywhere he went.  After graduating high school from El Camino High School, he joined the California National Guard.  He then served an LDS mission to the Eastern States Mission.  He earned his B.A. in Justice Administration from California State University, Sacramento.  Larry joined the Sacramento Police Department and served his community with honor and distinction from 1961 until 1994.  He loved the gospel.  He served in several bishoprics, was a Bishop, a Welfare Bishop, a High Counselor, and a Stake Seventy.  His real passion was Family History.  He could link his family to just about anyone around.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Oakley Stake Center, burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery.  Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 at the church in Oakley and from 10:00-10:45 Friday at the church prior to the Funeral.  Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.

From: Linda
My sincere condolences for the loss of your Husband. I know that losing a mate can be a difficult time in life. What has helped me is the wonderful hope given in the Bible at Jo 5:28,29 where God will remember our loved ones and will bring them back to life on earth. Ps 37:11,29.
Imagine the day when there are no more tears of sorrow and death and pain are gone forever. rev 21:3,4. May you too find comfort in these promises.
