On August 6, 2016, at the age of 86 Leonard Hueston Duff was called home by his Lord and Savior. Leonard struggled with Alzheimer’s for many years.
Leonard was the oldest of three sons, born on March 5, 1930, in Rupert, Idaho to Charles Hueston and Anna Virginia Stalnaker Duff. Leonard lived all of his life just west of Paul, except while serving in the military. He attended school in the "old Washington School" west of Paul and graduated from Paul High School in 1947.
He served in the Army Reserve, then volunteered for active duty from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan. He came home and finished his active reserve in Twin Falls. In 1965 he married Ruth Ann Pettit, in Ontario, California. Ruth and Leonard had two sons, Jeffrey and Steven.
Leonard was a respected farmer and rancher. He farmed with his father and later farmed with his brother Leon as the Duff Brothers. He loved the farm, raising potatoes and grain, also raising Angus and polled Hereford cattle. The farm was sold in 1997 and Leonard retired. Leonard was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Paul, serving as a Trustee and Deacon for many years.
Leonard was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Ruth, and two sons, Jeffrey (Jenny) Duff of Twin Falls, Steven (Laurie) Duff of Coquille, Oregon; four grandchildren, Emily, Sophie, Brianna and Eric; his brother, Lorn (Ardith) Duff; sister-in-law Ellen Duff. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Leon.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Hope Community Church, 25 North 4th East in Paul. A private Urn placement will proceed the memorial service in the Paul Cemetery. The family suggests memorial be made to the Gideons International.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Countryside Care Center for treating our Husband and Father like family, and to the staff of Morrison Funeral Home for providing support and dignity.
