Bruce William Burtenshaw, 67 year old Rupert resident, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Cassia Regional Medical Center. Bruce William Burtenshaw was a vibrant character who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Above all Bruce loved his family, which he would consider his strongest legacy. Bruce was an avid supporter of his grandchildren and never missed a game or performance (if he could help it). His family describes him as kind, supportive, forgiving, understanding and selfless. As an influential leader of the community, Bruce blessed many lives through his examples of service, kindness, optimism, and love. His larger than life presence will be missed and remembered by all those who knew him. One of his greatest passions was serving in his church where he touched many lives and made many lasting friendships. He made everyone feel special and loved; all of his children, grandchildren, and friends genuinely believed that they were his favorite. Bruce is survived by his beloved companion and partner in crime, Darla Burtenshaw, his children Emily (Brek) Pilling, Elise (Travis) Anderson, Chelsie (Eric) Drake and David (Gabrielle) Burtenshaw, and his step-children Shane (Karen) Jensen, Lance Jensen, Natalie (Shawn) Allen, Tiffany (Jared) Smith, and Trent Jensen, and by his thirty-five amazing and talented grandchildren (just ask him). He is preceded in death by his by his first sweetheart, Peggy, and his seven-year-old son and best pal, Adam. While his family will miss him dearly, we are blessed to know that he received a joyful greeting from his loved ones who were waiting for him beyond the veil. We are grateful to know that families are forever, and look forward to the time when we will see him again. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Rupert Stake Center26 South 100 West in Rupert. Burial will follow in the Paul Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Rupert West Stake Center, 26 South 100 West and from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral. Services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.

We are so saddened by the news of BB's passing. I (Allen) have so many good memories of BB. I've talked and laughed about the fun times and all of our business travels together. The time we went to the Winter Olympics and to Estes Park BB and Darla. So sorry We won't be able to attend the service, but Know that we are thinking and praying for your family.

The whole Declo football community loves Bruce. He was a father like figure on the sideline with me for many years. We have lost a great man for a season, hoping he is rooting for the Hornets this weekend. Thank you Darla for sharing him with Declo Hornet Football.
