Kathryn Eileen Armstrong (Katie), Rupert, ID passed away on November 22, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Spokane, WA on August 5, 1940 to Emory Orville Anderson and Ann Josephine Callahan.  She joined a sister, Marilyn Forrest and nine years later, on Katie’s ninth birthday, her brother, Ronald J, Anderson was born.  She attended schools in Spokane.  She married Homer D. Giles on July 5, 1958.  They lived in Spokane, WA, Richfield, ID, Manti, UT and settled in Rupert, ID.  There were four children that were born into this union. They were later divorced and Katie married William F. Armstrong on November 11, 1978.  Her family grew because of Bill’s children and she became quite close to them. 

Katie loved to garden, preserve fruits and vegetables, hunt, camp and go fishing. She was an amazing quilter and made too many to count, gifting to family, friends and charities and causes she cared deeply about.  She had a beautiful yard that she took care of. 

Katie was well cared for by her husband, children and Minidoka Home Health and Hospice. Thank you to Suzanne, Michelle, Dianne and Lacey for the wonderful care you gave Mom from the very beginning.  She also had wonderful aides that came daily, Erica, Karina and Kathy.  You were all so good to her.  Thank you to everyone who brought food and came to visit.  She didn’t want to miss even one of you.  Thank you to Leonard Huber for mowing the lawn every few days.  Know you are all loved.

Survivors are her husband, Bill Armstrong; Brother Ron Anderson, Sister Marilyn Forrest, Daughter Teresa Gonzales (Alex), Wenatchee, WA; Daughter, Nancy Borchardt (Mike) Star, ID;  Son, Robert Giles, Wenatchee, WA;  Son, Ricky Giles (Janelle), San Jose, CA; Step Daughter, Dawn Elkington (Don), Greenfield, IN;  Step Daughter, Karen Adkins, Foristell, MO;   Step Son, Forrest Armstrong, Meridian, ID.  She has thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, a Step Son Will Armstrong and a grandson Lijah Armstrong. 

A celebration of life will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 2 PM at Grace Community Church located 100 N Meridian, Rupert ID. Cremation services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.
