Margie Ann Critchfield of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 20 2017, at her son’s home in Albuquerque, NM. She was 86.
Margie was born in Assaria, Kansas to Walfred “Pat” and Ellen (Blomquist) Martinson on July 24, 1930. She graduated from Assaria High School in 1948, and from Bethany College in Linsborg, Kansas. After graduation, she taught elementary school in Salina and Marquette, Kansas and then taught US Army service members’ children in Kaiserslautern Germany. She married Lewis D. Critchfield on June 19, 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Salina, Kansas. Upon the birth of their son, Kyle, Margie stopped teaching to take care of her family full-time. After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 1976, they lived in Great Falls, Montana until his death in 1999. She was active in the St. John’s Lutheran Church and the River of Life Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and performed volunteer work. In 2001, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, residing at Blue Skies Texas (formerly Air Force Villages II) to live out the rest of her retirement years.
An avid traveler, Margie’s trips spanned several countries and continents from Europe, West Asia and the Middle East to Australia and Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, her parents and her brother, Oscar “Dale” Martinson. Survivors include her son, Kyle L. Critchfield, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 E. Main Street in Burley, Idaho, followed by a private family burial at Oakley Cemetery in Oakley, Idaho.
