Our beloved mother, Blaza Garza Lara, passed away in her home at 3:00 pm on Monday September 25th surrounded by family.
Blaza was born December 3rd, 1930 in Guerrero, Mexico to Rafael and Gonzala Garza. While growing up, Blaza’s passions were going to school and helping to care for her brothers and sisters. Later in life, she met and married Ramon Lara. After spending the first part of their life together in Texas, they moved to Idaho and started a family. Their four children became the center point of their lives and they worked tirelessly to provide a better life for them.
Blaza loved to garden, and she was able to grow the most beautiful flowers in any kind of soil. She loved to embroider, somehow (we believe it was magic) manipulating her antique sewing machine into creating breath-taking patterns on our pillow-cases. Blaza excelled in the kitchen, making each meal with love from scratch.
But Blaza’s true passion was her family. She made sacrifices time and again to make certain her children were taken care of. On those days where her children had to get up early, she was up much earlier to make sure they had a hot meal. She always ensured that her children had clean clothes to wear. She spent so much of her life loving and worrying about her children (and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren).
Blaza was preceded in death by her husband Ramon and her brother Guadalupe Garza. She is survived by her siblings Elida Lopez, Matilde (Tilita) Cavazos, Adan Garza, Elma Salinas, and Juan Garza. She is also survived by her four children: Juanita (Randall) Teeter, Rafael (Flora) Lara, Ramon (Ruby) Lara, and Albert (Amanda) Lara, along with many grand-children and great grand-children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening form 6:00 until 8:00 at Morrison Funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Condolences for Blaza Lara

As a kid every year we would go visit our cousins and our tia Blaza would always greet us with a smile, hug and a warm meal, no matter what time we arrived. Tia had the biggest heart any person has ever had. She was always worried about everyone else besides herself. She will be deeply missed and my thoughts and prayers got out to my cousins, Juanita, Ramon, Ralph and Albert.
