Ruby Joyce Tanner Carnahan passed away in Murray, Utah, on October 23, 2017, due to complications from a stroke.
She was born to William John Tanner and Ruby Jensen Tanner on March 8, 1935, in Weston, Idaho. She lived and grew up in Weston, attending a one room School House, and graduating from West Side High School in Dayton, Idaho. Her growing up years were full of hard work, fun, and laughter. She worked on her Father’s farm: mowing hay, thinning and hoeing beets, picking potatoes, driving truck and tractor, milking cows, while her brothers were on their Church Missions.
Joyce attended Utah State University for four years and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, with a minor in Secretarial Science. She became the Madison County Extention Home Agent for two years. She, then, served a Church Mission for the LDS Church to the California Mission for one and a half years.
After returning home, Joyce was hired by Oneida County, to be their Extention Home Agent and moved to Malad, Idaho. This is where she met her Sweetheart, Carlos Blaine Carnahan. Joyce and Carlos were married on April 14, 1961, in the Logan LDS Temple, Logan, Utah. In 1963, they purchased land and built a home in Heyburn, Idaho on the Snake River, where they have resided for the past 54 years.
Joyce and Carlos have raised eight children to be good up-standing members of their communities. Joyce has been a Substitute Teacher for both Minidoka and Cassia County. She has taken many a young individual and treated them as her own children. She has been a faithful Member of the LDS Church and served in many responsiblities. Joyce was a huge advocate for the Family History Program within the Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, singing, playing the piano, painting, typing, taking shorthand, computers, fishing, camping, skiing, and swimming.
Joyce is survived by her spouse of 56 years: Carlos Blaine Carnahan, (Heyburn, Idaho), Her children: Paul Carlos Carnahan, (Vancouver, Washington), Kyle Jay Carnahan, (Clinton, Utah), Brenda Carnahan Smith, (Hillsboro, Oregon), Lynn Kelly Carnahan, (Meridian, Idaho), Kathleen Carnahan Crumpton, (Madera, California), Annette Carnahan Buist, (Mendon, Utah), RoseMarie Carnahan Bedke, (Price, Utah), and Crystal Carnahan Bird, (Paradise, Utah).
Her Grandchildren: 43 Grandchildren
Her Great Grandchildren: 11 and 1 on the way.

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, there will be a viewing from 9:30-11:00 a.m., Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 530 Villa Street, Heyburn, Idaho 83336. A Grave-side Service will take place after the Memorial at Pleasant View Cemetery, Burley, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley.

It was a privileged to work for Carlos and Joyce. Joyce was such a sweetheart. When I Needed my daughter's choir dress sewn. She had no problems helping me out . my daughter look so beautiful in her dress thanks for Joyce hemming her dress. She was always willing and wanting to serve. She will be greatly missed. I'm glad she shared her brownie recipe with me. This is Ilene Harshbarger I work for Intermountain Homecare and Hospice. Carlos and Joyce weren't just patients to me they were my friends. Love you bunches Joyce
