Yvette Gonzalez, 38 of Heyburn, Idaho returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 5, 2017. She was our beloved daughter, sister and friend. She will be deeply loved and missed.
Yvette was born on October 1, 1979, in Burley, Idaho. She was the youngest daughter of Vicente and Mary Gonzalez. Yvette was born under difficult circumstances due to Spina-Bifida.She fought hard for her health all her life, from day one. Throughout her life she underwent countless surgeries, both major and minor, surviving them all. She astounded her doctors with her determination and great strength through every obstacle. Doctors said she would never walk. About age three she flipped a TV tray over and walked. She continued to walk until she was in about fifth grade. After that, she was in a wheelchair. We were told her life expectancy would be short, maybe surviving until eighteen. She far exceeded those expectations. Although her life was short lived, she lived it to the fullest.
Yvette enjoyed her childhood in Heyburn. Growing up on a dead end street with lifelong friends. Running up and down the block, having every kid in the neighborhood playing in the yard until the street lamps came on. She enjoyed dance parties and sleepovers with her best friends and cousins. While Yvette didn’t necessarily love school, she loved being there to associate with all her friends. She always had so many friends and she loved them all deeply.
Yvette attended schools at Heyburn Elementary, West Minico Jr High, and she graduated from Minico High School in 1997. After graduating, she did a lot of volunteer work at Cassia Hospital. She also worked some years at Life Inc in Burley, where she was able to help individuals with disabilities find housing, jobs and help with what needs they had. She also helped DJ for the radio station, La Voz Latina 91.9 FM. Yvette loved hearing from the radio listeners and she enjoyed playing the music she loved.
Yvette loved all music, especially oldies from the 50’s and 60’s. She loved to draw. She loved watching her shows about forensic files and anything court related or true crime. She especially loved spending time with family. She enjoyed the Holidays, loved summertime BBQ’s and family events. She loved catching up with out of state family and friends. She will forever be in our hearts.
Yvette is survived by her parents, Mary and Vicente Gonzalez of Heyburn, her siblings Vicente Gonzalez III, better known as Vince, of Heyburn, and Mandi (Nathan) Ulrich of Rupert. She loved her nephews and nieces as if they were her own children. They are Vicente Gonzalez IV, better known as Vinny, Brianna Ulrich (Santiago Quintero) of Burley, Jalynn Ulrich, Nathan Ulrich Jr, Ezekiel Ulrich, and one great-niece Ava Quintero. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Alvino and Estella Garcia and Maria Ramon.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert, with Bishop Layne Mackay Officiating. A viewing will be before the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial following the funeral at the Rupert Cemetery.
