After he retired, he continued working part time doing various projects with his equipment for the local farmers and ranchers. In retirement he enjoyed traveling including spending many winters in Arizona. He had a passion for going on wagon train trips throughout the West in his own custom made sheep camp with matching mules. He participated in a medical mission to Peru alongside his two sons to provide medical aid and supplies to those in need.
