Luella Peterson Morgan Haycock passed away Wednesday, 13 Dec 2017, on her 88th birthday, at the Rosetta Assisted Living in Burley. She was the 11th of 14 children born to Charles Otto and Olive Avery Peterson, all of whom preceded her in death.
Luella, or Lu as she was known, attended schools in Declo. When she was 17 she married the next door neighbor, Cecil Clyde Morgan on 24 Jan 1947, at her parent's home. Cecil had only been home from WWII for about a year and they were ready to start their family. To them were born six children in 8 years. Cecil wanted a dozen children. Lu told him she had the first half, he could have the second! They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, 19 Nov 1947.
Lu worked about 30 years in the restaurant business, first at the Stampede Cafe in Burley; then the C & L Cafe in Filer; then over 20 years at the Depot Grill in Twin Falls; 3 years at the Rogerson Restaurant in Twin Falls; and 3 years at the Boston Cafe in Shoshone. From 1983 to 1990, she managed a motel in Wright, Wy. Then worked at the Parker True Value Hardware Store in Parker, Az until 1999 when they moved to Logan, Ut. Cecil died 4 Dec 2000.
For companionship Lu married Art Haycock, her deceased sister Alice's husband, on 26 Mar 2001 and they lived in Burley until Art died 5 Jan 2007. Lu loved to do crafts, fish, camp, garden, and especially Christmas. She had been at Rosetta for about 10 months.
She leaves two sons and three daughters: Dave Morgan, Burley; Tom (KaeLene), Wellsville, Ut; Sue (Bill) Ethridge, Shoshone; Rosy Sparrow, Boise; and Wanda (Gregg) Landon, Idaho Falls. She had 16 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, a son, Calvin at one month, grandson, Jackson Sparrow, son-in-law, Dave Sparrow, and daughter-in-law, Marlene Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley, burial will follow in the Declo Cemetery. A viewing for friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
