February 25, 2018 I lost my husband, best friend, confidant and navigator to pulmonary fibrosis. He passed away quietly surrounded by his loving wife of 17 years and family by his side. Moises was born January 21,1952 in New York. He was a great salesman or "hustler" as he would say making money at an early age shining shoes for the masses. He often spoke of how he could make more money shining shoes than his sister could working in the factory all day. Moises enlisted into the Marine corp at the young age of 17 with the help of his mother signing the necessary paperwork. He loved the Marines and was very proud of the time that he served our country. Moises had an insatiable love of baseball and football and was extremely knowledgeable of the sports. His favorite teams were New York Yankees and the Chicago Bears. He was rarely seen without wearing a coat or hat displaying one of his favorite teams. He also loved classic cars and was able to know the years just by looking at the tail lights. Moises spent most of his life in route sales putting his gift of gab and salesmanship to work. There was never a time we paid full price for anything and there were many times I had to walk away while he tortured the salesman  to get to the rock bottom price. There wasn't a person that he met that didn't become a friend or would not remember who he was. He was truly unforgettable. After leaving California he spent a short time in Utah then moved to Idaho where he learned to love fishing. One trip to Hagerman was all it took to become addicted. He was an awful fisherman, throwing tantrums when he got his line tangled in the bushes only to come home with the most or biggest fish. Other than fishing he didn't have too many hobbies. After retiring he liked to stay at home taking care of the house and tinkering in the garage while I was on the road driving truck. He loved to cook and was quite the grill master, his specialty was grilling marinated steaks to perfection and whipping up a mean plate of fried potatoes and onions. 

Moises is survived by his wife Kasi Praegitzer (Heyburn), his son & daughter in law Brandon and Stephanie Ortiz (California); twin daughters Briell Kroman and Winter Chaslow (California); step daughters Kyra Moore (Boise) Kisha Corona (Twin Falls); Taira Buffaloe (Pocatello) son in laws Eric Buffaloe (Pocatello) and Cristian Gayton Corona (Twin Falls). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Rylee Ortiz, Gavin Ortiz,Ethan Kroman, Corbin Trumbo, Lucas Trumbo and Aaliyah Gayton

He was preceded in death by his parents Adelicia Nieves and Fernando Ortiz.

He was known by few, loved by many and will be remembered by all.

Kasi, heartfelt condolences.  We knew Moe for years. Chuck was his best man in previous weddings. His birthday was the day after mine.  We loved him dearly and are very sad with the news of him passing away. When we moved we lost track of him then he moved to Utah.  He was gone then forever.  Hugs and tears coming your way along with prayers. We pray he rests in Jesus’ arms.

Moises treated me like his biological daughter, even though I was only his daughter by marriage. He was the best father figure anyone could have asked for, even when I wasn't being the best daughter or the best person. Recently, I asked him for advice about accepting the great things that had started happening in my life and he said, "Honey, you have finally started putting positive vibes out into the world and now they are coming back to you. Accept them." Selfishly, I wish he could have stayed with us longer so he could see this happiness in my life unfold. I miss you so much, but I can take peace in knowing that you are no longer suffering. Love you always, papi.

So sorry for your loss. Even though I would only see him around tax time every year he would still remember something we had discussed the year before.  We usually talked about the Marines as my dad was a jar head, too. again, sorry for your loss. Dave the tax guy.
