Earl Plocher passed away in the late evening hours on Monday, March 5, 2018 at his residence in Rupert, Idaho. He was 75 years old at the time of his death and was a lifelong resident of Minidoka County residing north of Rupert. Earl Henry Plocher was born on May 25, 1942 as the middle child and only son of Edward and Blanche (Fenstermaker) Plocher. Earl was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church as an infant on June 21, 1942. Later as an adolescent, Earl professed his declaration of Christian faith and was confirmed on April 14, 1957.
A great deal of his early life was spent working with his older sister, Barbara, and his younger sister, Shirley, doing chores around the farm and household. Earl cherished farming throughout his life alongside his father, Edward. Earl graduated from Minico High School in the Class of 1961. He worked at Amalgamated Sugar Company in Paul, Idaho and retired from this position. He continued to work in ag related jobs or as a laborer for farmers until 2015 when ill health forced him to resign. Earl was a skilled welder and mechanic.
Earl married Linda Jo Klusman on July 9, 1966 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. They resided on the family farm where Earl & Linda became the proud parents of a son, Charles “Charlie” and a daughter, Terri. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with the immediate and extended family. Earl and Linda were later divorced in 1981.
Earl married Dorothy Windes on August 5, 1989 in Rupert, Idaho. To this union, additional children were welcomed into the family with three sons, Jerrold, Jason, and Jacob plus one daughter, Joni. Earl and Dorothy spent many hours together working in their garden. They enjoyed estate sales and antique shopping.
Earl will be missed by many that loved him. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Plocher, his children, Charles (Aime) Plocher, Terri (Travis) Burgess, grandchildren, Anthony and Sheldon Burgess plus great granddaughter, Lexxie Burgess; his children, Jerrold Windes, Jason (Deeann) Windes, Jacob Windes, Joni (Jim) Burno, and six additional grandchildren. Earl is survived by his sister, Shirley (Plocher) Tucker, two nieces, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara (Plocher) Dalry and brother-in-laws, Charles J. Dalry and Jerry Tucker as well as his parents, Edward and Blanche Plocher.
There will be no formal funeral or gravesite services per Earl’s request. Cremation is under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home & Crematory located in Rupert, Idaho.
