Richard was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on August 10, 1943 and at age 74 went home to be with the Lord after suffering for the last few years with Alzheimer’s. His parents were Merrill and Marjory Albertson, he was the 4th child of 9, living in Roberts, Idaho until they moved to Paul in 1956 to farm, Richard was a freshman that year and started school at Minico High, after graduating in 1961 he joined the National Guard in 1963. He met and later married Gary Lane Robbins from Rupert, in 1965. They were blessed with 3 daughters, Terri, Danna and Andi and made their home in Heyburn. Richard and Lane remained married for 53 years.
Richard was a visionary and his life was an adventure to the very end. He loved cars, especially hot rods, he was a skilled at Auto Body Repair and painted cars for a living in the late 1960’s to early 80’s, he was known for his pin stripes (back in the day). It was said that “if you didn’t have a Richard Albertson paint job, you didn’t have a paint job.” He could fix anything and after mastering auto body work he looked for a new challenge, he built several homes and also worked on many more building projects. Richard raised cows and farmed, was an accomplished welder and later owned and drove semis long haul from coast to coast, all the while collecting Hot Wheels across the country, cars were always his passion.
Richard came to know the Lord in 1989 and found his security of salvation a comfort thereafter. He spent much time steeped in the Word of God until he lost his ability to read. He was visibly a changed man and was sure to share his faith with all those he loved especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Richard was proceeded in death by his father Merrill Albertson and his mother Marjory Albertson.
He is survived by his wife Gary Lane Albertson, 3 daughters Terri (Todd) Cantrell of Mountain Home, Danna (Dave) Smith of Burley, Andi (Eric) Mabry of Heyburn and 9 grandchildren Lisa (Jason) Mitchell, Sarah (Jake) Allies, Brylee Albertson, Jared Cantrell, Clayton Smith, Jacki (Andy) Burton, Koby Mabry, Karli Smith and Elizabeth Mabry and 4 great grandchildren and the next one to arrive in May. His 8 siblings Christina (Ralph) Hunter of Shelly, Gary (Denise) Albertson of Paul, Merrill (Linda) Albertson of Paul, Joe Albertson of Paul, Mary Ann (Victor) Engraf of Rupert, Cathleen (David) Hendrix of Idaho Falls, Gwendolyn (Michael) Catmull of Paul and Michael (Lisa) Albertson of Declo.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday April 16, 2018 at Cross Roads Bible Church in Burley, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home in Rupert.
