Evan F. Olson was born September 22, 1925, in Downey, Idaho to Erik William and Maria Elizabeth Fredrickson Olson. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 28, 2014. Evan was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy from November 12, 1943 to July 11, 1946. He married Eloise Bloxham on June 30, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they had three children, Dee Ann Taylor, Eugene (Marlene) William Olson and Denise Beck. He was a graduate of Utah State University with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He was employed in business in Pocatello, Idaho and Logan, Utah before moving to Burley, Idaho in 1970. Evan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various capacities; Cub Scouts, Scout Master and was ward clerk to eight different bishops in Logan and Burley. He served as a full time missionary in the Arizona, Phoenix mission with his wife. He followed that with two service missions in Burley. Evan loved his garden and spent many peaceful hours in it. He enjoyed bowling and played for many years on the American Contractors League. He liked camping, especially with the grandchildren, who loved to go in the “brown bus” wherever he would take them. Evan loved people and he often caught them off guard with his sly sense of humor. Evan was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ella Martin, a brother David W. Olson, son-in-law Harvey Taylor and a grandson William Eugene Olson. He is survived by his wife, children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Burley West Stake Center, 2420 Parke Ave. In Burley with Bishop Kerry McMurray, officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, Idaho with military Honors. Friends may call Thursday evening from 5:30 until 7:00 at the Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church prior to the funeral.
