Oscar “Larry” Winks, 77 years old Burley resident, died Friday June 27, 2014 in Burley, Idaho in his home from natural causes. Larry was born Sept. 29, 1936 in Burley, Idaho to Oscar R. Winks and Ruth E. Leavitt. He was raised in, and graduated school from Burley in 1953. He went into the Air Force straight out of high school and served his country until 1959 as an Atomic Weapons Specialist. He married Gloria Fairchild March 27, 1964; to this union a daughter, Sherrie Lynn, was born. They later divorced. On September 11, 1969 he married the love of his life Cherrie Woolard Timm, where he became the father of two sons, Stephen W. Timm and Daniel W. Timm. Larry worked for Bonneville Power Administration and retired in 1991 after 30 years of service. After retirement he returned to his hometown of Burley, Idaho. Larry enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, camping, hunting, having coffee with his friends and most of all was very proud and liked spending time with his children and grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments. Larry is survived by his children Sherrie Lynn Winks of Billings, MT, Stephen (Janet) Timm of Pocatello, ID and Dan (Debbie) Timm of Rigby, ID; his siblings Lila Paul, Thelma Paul, Ross Leavitt, and Norma Smith; four grandchildren Micheal (Michele) Timm, Jeremy (Danielle) Timm, Erica (Brodi) Timm and Shannara Miller and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Cherrie Winks; parents Oscar and Ruth Winks; siblings Marilyn Winks, Richard Winks and Charles Winks; and one grandson Antonio. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street with Military Honors provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans. Friends may call from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to the service on Wednesday.
