Marion A Knight Whittle, born July 11, 1935 to Marion Owen Knight and Lola Anona Baker in Salt Lake City, Utah peacefully passed away on July 11, 2022. It was her 87th birthday.
Marion grew up and attended school in Salt Lake City. After high school she took a bus to Los Angeles, CA in answer to a job placement advertisement in her local paper. At the age of 21 she married LaVar E Whittle of Oakley, ID in the Salt Lake Temple in Utah. They met at a church dinner/dance in the L.A. area where they both lived attending school or working.
Together they remained in Granada Hills, CA for 19 years raising 3 daughters and 1 son. LaVar had 2 sons previously, David and Robert Whittle, who also were involved off and on with the family. In 1976 they moved to Oakley, ID remaining there until 1984 when they moved back to Southern CA. Marion was a stay at home mom while raising her children but had several years working at the Simplot Potato Processing Plant in Burley, ID and upon moving back to CA spent 15 years as an apartment manager. She did this until 2010 when upon retirement she and LaVar moved back to Oakley, ID.
Her last 10 months were living in an Independent Living Center in Orem, UT where she made many friends, enjoyed social activities and was closer to her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids giving her great joy. Her life evolved around her children and grand children which were her greatest happiness and joy. We're grateful that she could experience this joy and happiness during her last few months.
Marion is predeceased by her parents and younger sister, Zella Kay Lott, her daughter Sherry Holdaway, her son Randal Whittle and 3 grandchildren. She is survived by LaVar Whittle, daughters Linda (Greg) Norris, Tammy (Evan) Willian, step sons David (Kathy) Whittle and Rob (Joy) Whittle and their families, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with another one on the way.
Services will be held on Friday July 22, 2022 at 10:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Oakley, ID. Funeral arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Home 188 ID-24 Rupert, ID 83350

We would like to send our deepest condolences to the Whittle family for the loss of Marion. We have lovely memories of her and of her wonderful family. May your hearts find peace during this time of sorrow and may you feel the love that she has given to each and everyone of you.
We would also like to send our love to Tammy and Evan. We loved your talk at the service Tammy when you gave your mother’s life’s sketch. It was a beautiful tribute to your mother and you have always had a gift as a master orator. I always knew that you were close to your mother but I loved hearing more concerning your relationship with her. Your words are so sincere and heartfelt and I don’t think that anyone could have done it better. I had no idea that your mother loved 'Clair de lune', by Claude Debussy. She must be a true lover of moonlight.
Anyway, bless be your heart Tammy and it was fun to see your grand kids. You are so blessed indeed. May God bless you as you are searching for a new home and we are sending our love to you and your family. We have been there too and it is not fun. You are always welcome here in Portland. Lots of love to all and sorry for your loss of your mother.
