Wallace Fielding Hale, 91 years old, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at his home in Oakley surrounded by his family.

Fielding was born May 26, 1931, in Oakley, Idaho.  He was the last of ten children born to Penola Dayley and Wallace Hale.  As a young man he enjoyed scouting and became an Eagle Scout in 1946.  Fielding graduated from Oakley High School in 1949.  After high school he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission.  Upon completing his mission, he was drafted into the Army and was trained in heavy weapon infantry; the 81 mm mortar was his specialty.  He became a corporal while serving in the Korean War.  Once honorably discharged from the Army, he worked for a construction company in Salt Lake City and later was transferred to Denver.  There he met and married his former spouse, Betty Bean. They had one child, whom they adored. They moved to Phoenix where he attended college at Arizona State University.  He returned to Idaho in 1966 and began working for the Department of Agriculture where he worked for 30 years along with stacking hay and farming.  He married Norma Jeanne Zurcher in 1967.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.  Fielding and Norma made their home in Oakley where they raised their 6 children.

Fielding has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life, having served willing and faithfully in many callings.  Fielding loved the hills surrounding the Oakley valley and spent many hours with his wife, Norma, hiking and 4-wheeling through the tick-infested sagebrush.  He loved and supported his children through the many years of their activities.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by three sons:  Jeff (Renee) Hale of Caldwell, ID; Russon (Melanie) Hale of Fountain Hills, AZ; Todd (Mary) Hale of Nampa, ID; four daughters:  Lisa Jimenez of Orem, UT; Stephanie Hale of Boise, ID; Anne (James Filbin) Hale of Fallon, NV; Catherine (Jason) Brown of Twin Falls, ID; 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Penola, and his three brothers and six sisters.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Home Health and Hospice, namely Kathy McEwen, Stephanie Mitchell, and Marcie Bedke for their care of Fielding.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Oakley Stake Center in Oakley, with Military Honors provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans.  A viewing for friends and family to attend will be held Thursday evening, February 2, 2023 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the Oakley Stake Center, and from 10:00 until 10:45 Friday morning at the church prior to the funeral.
