Karen Jolene Boyd-Lancaster
July 31, 1954 - October 19, 2024
Born in Twin Falls, ID to Carl W. and Janet Wark Boyd. Karen was the second of five children in the family and her early years were spent growing up and attending school In Twin Falls graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1972.
She met and married Donald Lancaster and together they had three children, Amy, Chancy and Jini living in Kimberly, ID. They later divorced.
Karen loved to camp at our family cabin, fish, do crafts and was an excellent seamstress. She loved Halloween and would make costumes for the children to wear in the Kimberly Parade. And they won many cash prizes.
Her first job was as an associate at Sears and then she went to work at J. C. Penney’s in Twin Falls. She worked in the fabric department where she made several of the clothing for display. Her final job was to manage the children’s department.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended her meeting regularly when able.
On March 18, 1981 her life changed dramatically in an automobile accident which left her mute and partially paraplegic. However, her mind was still very cognitive. Her communication became a typewriter, computer and a spelling board. When she became independent enough, she was moved to an apartment where she was able to live for 21 1/2 years with the help of care givers for meals and errands. Then due to complications with a hip surgery she was moved to Countryside Care and Rehab in Rupert, ID where she was close to her family. She has resided there until her passing.
Surviving: Her mother Janet Cameron, Rupert. Sister Carla (Robert) Loncar, W. Wendover, NV, Brothers Terry (Marylin) Boyd, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Brian (Kara) Boyd, Monticello, UT. Her children Amy (Mark) Boar, Meridian, ID, Chancy Lancaster, Id. Falls, ID, Jini (Michael) Rinard, Green Bay, WI. Eight grandchildren, one grandchild in law. She is preceded in death by her Father Carl W. Boyd, and a brother Brett Boyd.
Her family would like to be able to find the words to express our many thanks to the many doctors, nurses, therapists and care givers over the years whom she grew to love. Most recent being Countryside Care and Rehab. These thanks include her very great Home Teachers the Jensen’s and Lemon’s in Twin Falls.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.
In Lieu of flowers we recommend a donation be made to Countryside Care and Rehab, 1224 Eighth St., Rupert, ID 83350
