Linda C. Thielman, 72 year old Oakley resident, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at her home in Oakley.

Linda Claire Brandt Thielman was born on April 29, 1952 in Butte, Montana to William Ernest Brandt and Mary Ellen Roper.

Linda had 2 sisters Mildred Ellen McCoy Erickson and Roberta Gay McCoy Gee and one brother David Edward Roper.

Linda left home at a young age and worked to support herself. She completed her GED and took some college courses. She held several jobs, including working for an insurance company where she achieved several certifications in WA.

Linda was married to Dwight Ashcraft and had two children Tonya Jean Ashcraft and Troy Jon Ashcraft. She loved being a mother and a homemaker. They later divorced. Linda and her children somehow lost contact with each other. This saddened her greatly, but she always expressed her love for them and stated that she continued to pray for their well-being.

Linda married Paul Thielman and they later divorced, but remained friends until his passing.

Linda dealt with multiple health concerns throughout her life that gave her considerable setbacks. She always strived to fight her way back. and did, time after time.

Linda was a pint-sized whirlwind that could work circles around most. She had a passion for life. She loved to crochet, cook, read, write poetry, collected many interesting things in thrift shops, was a great conversationalist and a prolific texter. Linda had a mischievous twinkle in her eye, often looking like she was up to something, and loved to make people laugh. She was a good listener and helped people feel at ease with her.

Linda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She shared that she has always known that heavenly father loved her and was aware of her. She felt this was a gift, as she never felt alone in what often could have been a very lonely world for her.

Linda left Washington to live with her sister Bertie after Bertie’s husband, Kay, passed away in 2012. She was a companion and caregiver until Bertie’s death in 2017.

Linda often said that staying in Oakley was the best thing she could’ve ever done. Linda loved and was loved by many friends in Oakley. In recent years several helped Linda with transportation, errands, meal prep, and housekeeping. Her heart was full of gratitude for the many gestures of kindness shown her. But it was very reciprocal, as she taught us a lot about living with hope, faith, and gratitude.

We love you Linda! You’ve kicked your cane to the curb and you’re back to moving full speed ahead. All the physical discomforts that you bore are no more. You are in a place where you can continue reaching your full potential, with people and kitties that you have loved.

Linda died peacefully in her home, as a result of lung cancer, on November 9, 2024. Her wish was to die gracefully. She was fortunate to have had only one day in bed. She had excellent medical care provided by Intermountain Hospice, assuring her comfort. Linda had a number of friends that surrounded her through her last day. A graceful good passing.

A graveside service will be held November 26th, 3:00 PM, at the Oakley Basin Cemetery, under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Bishop Brian Lindquist, of the Oakley 3rd Ward, will officiate.
