Mary Jane Cantrell, 87 year old Rupert resident, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Mary is survived by her husband John Cantrell, sister, Donna Marsh, five children, Tena Cummings, Sonya Griffith (Tom), Rhonda Cantrell, Tim Cantrell, Travis Cantrell (Kim), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her parents Fred and Iva Ward, son, Kelly Jay, brothers Glen, Ben, Harold, Dick, Roger Ward, and sister Grace Thomas. Mary attended grade school at Sunny Slope until they moved to the farm in Wilder Idaho. She then attended Parma and graduated from Parma high school. She married John Amos Cantrell, April 7, 1958.
Mary was very involved in her children’s life's. She volunteered as a room mother. She also helped with 4H and campfire girls. Mary loved sewing, gardening and cooking. Her family and friends always enjoyed her meals. Mary and her husband John worked side by side on the family farm north of Rupert. She drove grain truck, worked on the potato harvester, picked rocks, and shoveled corrugates. Later in life, she also worked as a housekeeper at the Minidoka Memorial Hospital. Mary regularly attended the First Baptist Church in Rupert with her children and was active in many of the church activities. She was a woman of true grit.
Funeral Services will be held on January 8, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home and Crematory located at 188 South Highway 24 in Rupert, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Donations in Mary's name can be made to Alzheimer's Association located on 8324 W Northview Street #102, Boise, Id 83704.
