Blanche Elizabeth Buechner passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday June 24 at the age of 93. She was born January 24, 1923 to Joseph and Lucia Gaskey in San Diego California. Her dad was in the navy and away a lot. She learned to sew, knit and embroider from her mom. She also picked up a love of reading from her mom. As a child she loved to draw and as she got older, to paint. She was always learning new ways to be creative. In 1941 she married Paul John Buechner on September 14. They were married for 63 years. They have three children, Patricia Anne Marsh, Paul Joseph Buechner and Thomas Francis (Heidi) Buechner. There are three grandchildren, Beckie (Jim) Farrell, Denise (John) Gibbs and Jason Buechner; two great grandchildren, Colton Denning and Zachary. Over the years she was always doing something new. She owned and operated a pottery shop, sold real estate, knitted, she even bought a knitting machine so she could make things more quickly and then taught herself to create stain glass designs. In the early 70s’ the family moved to Mammoth Lakes California where she learned to ski. The proudest achievement other than her children was being a snow plow driver in the Eastern Sierras on Highway 395 near Mammoth. She had a very active life with many stories to tell. She will be greatly missed. Graveside services with urn placement will take place in the Fort Rosencran Cemetery in San Diego where she will be placed with her husband. Cremation services are under the direction Morrison Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at morrisonpayne.com
