Keith Plant Critchfield, 87, passed away peacefully in his home on December 15, 2016. Keith was born April 4, 1929, to Lewis Robert and Zella Irene Plant Critchfield in Oakley, Idaho. He was the seventh of eleven children with six sisters and four brothers. Keith had his fair share of adventures growing up in Oakley. He learned to farm with his father by thinning beats, milking cows and tending to their foxes.

Keith graduated from Oakley High school in 1948, as salutatorian and headed off to BYU for a year. He also attended the University of Idaho and Utah State University. In the fall of 1950, Keith was called on a mission to the Northern States, headquartered in Chicago. He was not able to fulfill that mission as he was drafted to the Korean War two days after arriving to the Missionary Training Center.

Keith was introduced to his wife of 54 years, Mary Janice Garrett, in 1958. She was the missionary companion of local Oakley girl, Betty Martin Warr.  Keith and Janice were married December 21, 1962 in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with five children.

Keith worked on the Oakley farm his entire life. He worked first with his brothers and then with his son David and his son-in-law, Wayne Lind. Keith was a member of the Oakley Third Ward, Oakley, Idaho Stake. He loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he served faithfully in many church responsibilities. Keith and Jan were able to serve a mission at the Boise Temple for ten years. Keith had one main interest and that was to work and work and work some more. He loved his fields and most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, of Oakley, Idaho, daughter Angela Critchfield of Coeur d’Alene, ID, daughter MaryLynn Graham of Chubbuck, ID, son David (Deborah) of Oakley, ID and daughter Rachelle Lind (Wayne) of Oakley, ID, and fifteen grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenne K, son-in-law, David Graham and grandson, Quinn Graham, his parents and many of his sisters and brother: Venice, Norma, Thelda, Zetta, Inga, Lewis.

The family thanks the wonderful and caring service of Lisa Asher and the many helpers who so lovingly took care of Keith and Jan over the past several years of his decreasing health. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.

A viewing will be held at the Oakley LDS Stake Center, Oakley, Idaho on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 6-8:00 pm. Keith’s funeral will be held at the Oakley LDS Stake Center, Oakley, Idaho on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 am with a viewing proceeding at 10:00 am. Interment will be at the Oakley, Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Auxiliaries.  Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home, 321 East Main Street in Burley.
