Opal May Jones, age 90 years young, passed away Tuesday morning December 19, 2017 surrounded by loving family and care givers in Pocatello, Idaho.

Opal was born May 28, 1927 to John Edward and Florence Annie Schenk. Opal married RDean Jones on August 18, 1946 and together they raised and nurtured three children.  Following RDean’s passing, Mom continued to work for Ore-Ida Foods and served as a shop steward for fellow employees. Her fairness and common sense helped many workers. Opal retired after working 30 years, leaving the plant in a limousine and chauffeured to her retirement party held by fellow employees. Opal never knew a stranger, nor did you leave her home without a smile on your face.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years, two brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her children, Marlo (Penny) Jones, Julie (Dan) Graf, Brenda (Mike) Tillotson, ten grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Morrison Payne Funeral Home at 321 East Main St.  Burley, Idaho with Chaplain Michael Farnes officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.  Immediately following the service, a graveside ceremony will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery, Burley Idaho.

Opal’s family would like to express a heartfelt thanks for the tender care offered to Mom by the loving staff at Monte Vista Hills Healthcare Center & our own Jodi Tillotson with Heritage Home Health & Hospice.
