Barbara Joyce Richardson of Oakley, Idaho passed away on Saturday, February 7th at home surrounded by family.

Barbara was born December 1, 1935 in Rigby, Idaho. The 9th child of Orson Charles Putnam and Estella Hazel Devenburg Putnam Noreen.  Orson died when Barbara was 3 months old,  Hazel then married Andrew Clarence Noreen, and they had 3 more children,  which made an even dozen.

The family moved to Pocatello, Idaho when Barbara was 5 years old; she always said they were a big, loud, happy family with many extended family congregating at their home south of Pocatello, affectionately called "The Forty."  The end of April 1956 Barbara was reacquainted with George Dewey Richardson.  Although she had known George her entire life he suddenly saw that she had grown up, and they dated and were married on May 19, 1956.  George was stationed in Tacoma, Washington with the Air Force and that is where their 1st child Georgia Ann Richardson Dimick  was born.  Barbara moved back to Pocatello while George was stationed in Iceland and daughter number 2 was born, Joyce Suzell Richardson Hadley .  George left the Air Force and went to work at AT&T, and the family moved to Rock Springs where number 3 daughter Sandra Richardson was stillborn. Then George was transferred back to Pocatello and daughter 4, Julie Elizabeth Richardson,  daughter 5 Johnei Andrea Richardson Goddard and  son George Dewey Richardson Junior were born.  The family moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1972 and a year later to  Winnemucca, Nevada and then to Idaho Falls, Idaho in 1976. George and Barbara were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1979.  They moved back to Pocatello in 1980 and finally  after George medically retired from US West in 1985, they moved to Oakley, Idaho.

Barbara was a talented seamstress; and there are hundreds of people who have had alterations complete, clothing made and even wedding dresses made by her.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in multiple callings, including Relief Society President, Primary President, teacher and visiting teacher. She enjoyed helping her community thru those callings.   Her house was always noisy and full of people and she was right in the middle enjoying her family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother (Hazel), father  (Orson),  father (Andrew), 4 brothers (Fred Putnam, Newel Putnam, Jim Putnam, Earl Putnam) , 4 sisters (Estella Putnam Pierce, Juanita Putnam Baker, Bertha Putnam Thomas,  June Noreen Daniels) ,1 daughter (Sandra),  mother and father in law (Clyde and Ursula Richardson) and son-in-law Wesley Dimick.  Sadly Barbara's niece Betsy Baker Allen died the same day.

Barbara  is survived by her husband George, sisters  Alice Peck and Nola (Dennis) Thomson , brother Oscar (Joyce) Noreen, her 5 children Georgia, Suzell, Julie, Andrei (Lark) and Dewey (Lisa)  , 12 grandchildren Caleb (Marcie) Dimick, Jennifer (Greg) Cranney, Patricia (Mike) Harris, Kasey Hadley, Korey Hadley, Junelina Reed, Sarah Goddard, Livingston Goddard, Jake Goddard, Clayton Richardson, Jensen Richardson, Mackaylee Richardson and  9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara will always be in our hearts.

Many thanks to Intermountain Home Care Hospice doctors (Dr. Alan Nelson and Dr. A Richard Miranda) nurses and aids who cared for mom with such kindness and affection.
