In loving memory of our mother, Patricia “Pat” Colleen (Thompson) Butz who passed away peacefully at home on April 3rd, 2023, at age 88. She was the devoted wife of Ray Butz and the loving mother of Laurie McKeever-Hovde (Eric), Kathleen McKeever-Walton, and John Butz (Shannon).

Pat was born to Mary Evelyn and John Orval Thompson on July 1st, 1934, in Albion, Idaho. She grew up with her parents and siblings in Twin Falls, Idaho. As a child, mom would spend her time riding bikes, going camping and fishing, and playing baseball with her brothers and sisters. After graduating from high school, she attended Idaho State University. After college, she taught school briefly and worked at Ore-Ida as a bookkeeper. Pat spent the remainder of her career keeping the books at the Burley Veterinary Hospital, where she retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Throughout her life, she spent countless hours painting, gardening, and singing. She enjoyed sharing her gardening tips and teaching her granddaughters to paint. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her love and appreciation for art.

Pat was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Mary, her husband Ray, her sister Carole Cliff, and her brother John Orval “Jack” Thompson.

She is survived by her brother, Brian Thompson of Homedale, sisters Diane Reid of Torrance, CA and Kristina Carrier of Moscow; her two daughters, Laurie (Eric) Hovde of Nampa, and Kathleen Walton of Scottsdale, her son John (Shannon) Butz of Albion; her grandchildren, Evelyn (Wylie) van den Akker of Salt Lake City, Leah Walton of Heyburn, Jennifer (Chase) Peirce of Meridian, Logan (Tina) Boyd of Heyburn, Kale Walton of Portland, Dillon Boyd of Jerome, Deirdre “Dd” Mack of Holladay, Miles DeKlotz of Boise; her ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

Pat was a woman of unwavering faith and always stressed the importance of family, hard work, and doing what was right. She was strong and faced every challenge with courage and dignity. She was a compassionate and loving source of inspiration to our family and many others. She will be missed dearly.

Mother, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Sing with the Angels, sweet mother.

We would like to extend special thanks to the team at Intermountain Homecare for the loving care and support they provided.
