On August 2, Gerald Lloyd Gillespie returned to his Heavenly Father. His wife LoRye was holding his hand as he passed on.

Gerald was born on October 18th, 1946 to Lloyd Harding and June Cook Gillespie in Rupert Id at the Walk Maternity Hospital. He was followed by sisters Kathleen Louise and Gayla June to complete the family. Jerry was a friend to all and loved to visit. All the knowledge he gained from his jobs he shared willingly. When one of his kids or grandkids came up with a project his response was “We can do that! I’ve got tools in the shop.” He spent a lot of time in his train room in the shop that he and his children built. His grandkids enjoy all those trains now.

In 1965 he graduated from Minico High School and enlisted in the Army. Where he served from 1966 to 1969. He served in Korea and Germany as a crane operator and general mechanic. In 1971 he married LoRye Ann Gee. They had four children together. He worked for Gordon Paving, Union Pacific Railroad and the Bureau of Reclamation at Walcott Park. Walcott Park was his favorite because he got to enjoy the sunshine and wildlife especially the rock chucks and pelicans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Matthew Gerald Gillespie, daughter Sara Anne McPherson and infant sister Susan Marie Gillespie. He is survived by his wife LoRye Ann of 51 years, son Jared Gillespie (Sareena), daughter Rebecca Gregory (Patrick), daughter in-law Ruby Gillespie Cole (Ron). Sisters Gayla Moog and Kathleen Pew. Grandchildren: Ashley Gillespie, Linzy and Aleena Cole, Abigail, Brekkan and Cadance Gregory, Brennan Gillespie, Jack and Rebakah McPherson. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family expresses thanks to Kaylee Anderson (Cliff) for all of her help over the years. Idaho Home Health and Hospice, Nurses Amber and Jessica, and the EMT’s of MMH. The Gillespie’s are so thankful to all of the wonderful friends this family has, especially Aaron and Kelly Swanson who visited almost everyday with Gerald.

A graveside gathering will be held Wednesday August 9th,2023 at 11 AM at the Rupert Cemetery. With a luncheon following at Rupert West stake Center at 26 South 100 West provided by the Rupert 4th Ward Relief Society.
