Eugene D. Valdez, 68, passed away on February 10, 2016.  Eugene was born April 9, 1947 in Del Norte, Colorado.  He was the 11th child of 15 born to Antonio and Esmiria (Mary) Valdez.

Eugene never knew anything but work.  At the early age of 12, he was selling newspapers or shining shoes.  Eugene enlisted in the Army in 1964.  He did two tours in Vietnam.  He came home from Vietnam a changed man.  Eugene loved fishing.  When he was younger he spent most of his spare time fishing.  He loved football and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. 

Eugene met the love of his life, Terry Whitehouse in Ogden, Utah.  They were married in 1977.  From that marriage, they had three children:  Eugene D. Valdez Jr., Janelle Valdez, and Stephanie Valdez.  

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Valdez and Esmiria Valdez; two sisters, Anita Valdez and Genevieve Duran; four brothers, Richard Valdez, Albert Valdez, Toribio Valdez, and Robert Valdez; his wife Terry Valdez; his brother-in-law and best friend Herbert Hunter, and Leslie Wickel.   

Eugene leaves behind his children Eugene D., Janelle, and Stephanie Valdez.  His five grandchildren Austin Brown, Destiny Marie Valdez, Alexis Kelsi Valdez, Nevaeh Hudson, and Kristy Fay Heath; eight brothers and sisters:  Gertude (Albert) Cordova, Raymond (Evelyn)  Valdez, Lucy Wickel, Charlie Valdez, Katherine Hunter, Roger (Guillermina) Valdez, Jose Valdez, and Michael (Danelle) Valdez.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 1601 Oakley Avenue in Burley, Idaho.  Interment will be on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
