Don Cook, 83 year old Burley resident, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at his home in Burley. Don was born in a logging camp on an Indian reservation in Disautel, Washington.  He was the fifth child of Lawrence M. And Selena Rose Cook. His dad was a logger and farmer.  Don milked cows on the farm morning and night.  When he got good enough to out milk his mom, she quit, and it was his job.  He was raised with a good work ethic.  At 15 Don joined the Navy, wanting to take care of himself and live on his own. He was in the end of WW2 and Korea Conflict.   He ran an LST landing craft and took soldiers in on the first wave at Inchon, Korea.  He enjoyed his time in the Navy and was proud he served his country. After honorable discharge from the Navy, Don stayed in California and worked in construction.  Eventually becoming part owner in a Ready Mix Concrete plant.  In 1967 he married Datha.  Don, Datha and two of Don’s sons went to Alaska where he logged.  Than back to California and back into Construction.  In 1974 they moved to the Washington coast where Don started a very successful logging company and shake mill.  Don was injured and had to retire.  They moved to Henderson, Nevada for the warmer climate.  10 years later, they sold out traveled in their motor home and ended up in Burley, Idaho.  He worked hard fixing up their property.  He always had vision. Don was a man's man.  He was hard, but always willing to help anyone, that would help themselves.  He was very generous.  He was tough, he wouldn't baby anyone.  He always said "A man that doesn't work, shouldn't eat" and he meant it.  Don is survived by his wife, Datha, 3 sons, Blake, Clay, and Dana and one daughter, Dawn Brehan.  Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Rocky.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Burley United Methodist Church, 450 East 27th Street, with Dr. D.
