NITA RAE OLSON WELLS

Nita Rae Olson Wells passed away on Friday, September 27 in Caldwell, Idaho. Nita was born November 23, 1936, in Heyburn, Idaho to Leo Peter Olson and Vera Card Olson. She was number 8 out of 9 children.  The family moved to Paul, Idaho where mom attended school. She met Kenneth Wells while in High School. When Ken graduated, he joined the Navy and Nita went on to go to school at the Albion State College in Albion.

When Ken came home on leave, Nita and Ken were married on July 6, 1956 in Paul, Idaho.  Ken was deployed the next day after their marriage.  Kathy was born April 3, 1957.

Rick was born November 4,1960 and in1968, Mark was born. Mom determined that Mark needed a playmate, so Scott was born December 15, 1970.

Mom worked at home, raising 4 children until the 1980’s, where she started work at Ashley’s and when Ashley’s closed down, she went to work for Walmart when Walmart first opened in Burley. She worked for a couple years until Dad retired. Mom worked for another year, then retired to travel with Dad.

They traveled across the United States and visited with Mark and Scott who were on the East Coast. They later took a couple months and drove across Canada and Alaska with Doug Shill. They loved going to Arizona when it was cold in Burley, then returning in the Spring.  Dad and Mom took a couple of cruises to Alaska with Sherry and Gene Funk, Dad’s sister and brother in law.

Nita has always enjoyed camping and hiking and being in the outdoors which the family did a lot of every year. The thing she loved the most was being with family.

Mom is preceded in death by her husband, Ken, her siblings – Fern, LaVere, Virgil, Shirley, Charles, Hazel, and Arland. She is survived by her children, Kathy Adams, Rick (Cindy) Wells, Mark Wells, Scott (Paul) Wells and her sister, Darlene (Gerald) Whitesides.  She has 7 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Children.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Burley 7th Ward Building, 2200 Oakley Avenue in Burley with Bishop Eric Pierce, officiating.  Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m until 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral.

My memories of Aunt Nita will stay in my heart forever.  She had a kind soul and would do anything for anyone. She was very funny and as the years passed, I think she became more funny. She surprised me quite often with what she would say and I loved it. Kathy, Rick, Mark, Scott, she loved you all endlessly. You could see it when she looked at you or talked about you. Cherish the time you had and know we will all be together one day. We love you all, Denette & Jake

Nita was a shining star. She so enjoyed being around people and loved to visit! She was loving and very caring and concerned about others that might need her help. Her passion was to be with family which she cherished every single time that they were together. Nita was our Sister and we so enjoyed our trips with her and our wonderful brother Ken. Rest in Peace Beautiful Sis until we meet again. Much Love, Gene and Sherry
