Billy Martin Teal, 67, of Burley, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Billy was born on April 17, 1959, in Burley, Idaho, to the late Jerry Teal and Myrna (Taylor) Cooper Teal.
Billy spent most of his childhood in Pocatello, Idaho, where he and his family moved around the area quite frequently throughout the years. Some of his fondest childhood memories were made with his brothers, Jerry and Kevin. The three brothers would often climb the mountains just across the railroad tracks near one of their childhood homes. You could also often find them riding horseback at their childhood friend’s house on Batista Road in Pocatello.
Billy’s teenage years in the 1970s were exactly how you might imagine them. He rocked bell bottoms, crop tops, and his signature long hair. He spent much of his time at the roller-skating rink and the bowling alley, though he certainly wasn’t one to turn down the occasional house party.
He attended Pocatello High School and later received his GED. In early 1982, Billy moved to Germany, where he stayed with his brother Jerry until he was able to live on his own. He would later describe Germany as one of his favorite places he ever lived. He enjoyed the nightlife and made sure to experience plenty of the tourist attractions while he was there. During his time in Germany, Billy worked at a pizzeria on an American Army base for about two years. He also got around in style in his lime-green Volkswagen Beetle.
Soon after returning to America, Billy joined the National Guard, married his first wife, Angela, and became a father to his first son, Steve in 1984. He received his National Guard training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and continued serving in the Burley area as a mechanic until 1987. Shortly afterward, he welcomed his second and youngest son, Aaron, in 1988.
Billy eventually went on to work for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), where he helped build trails and assisted in fighting forest fires.
Later in life, Billy began working as a forklift operator at J.R. Simplot. During his 24 years at Simplot, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou. The two eventually tied the knot in Elko, Nevada, on November 30, 2000. Later down the line they were sealed together for Life and All Eternity at the Twin Falls Temple on September 9, 2021.
Billy then spent 15 years as a forklift operator for McCain Foods, where he eventually retired in 2019.
During retirement, Billy enjoyed spending his days listening to his cassettes and records, growing his model car collection, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
He will be deeply missed by his four siblings, Jerry, Kevin, Connie, and Jeremy; a grandfather to sixteen grandchildren; and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Teal. And his two sons Steve Teal (Blanca), Aaron Teal (Sarah).
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Teal; his mother, Myrna (Taylor)Teal Cooper; his grandparents on both sides; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The Teal family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the amazing doctors and nurses who provided Billy with compassionate care and comfort during his final days. A special thank you to Dr. Logan Nelson and the Vision Home nurses, Sadie and Krystal, for their kindness, care, and support.
Billy was cremated. Special Thanks to Morrison Funeral home. For now Bill wont have an internment, it will take place at a later date in the Oakley Cemetery.
Funeral service will be held on September 5th at 11:00 am at the Star Building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 100 South 200 West, Burley, Idaho.
